What is the pinkypoint?
The pinkypoint is a friendly hand gesture performed by closing your hand in a fist, leaving your pinky finger extended and pointing at your target. The meaning of the gesture can be interpreted as "Yeah, man!", "You know what I'm talking about!", "Yeah, I know what you're talking about!", "All right!", "You said it, man!" or other similar friendly expressions exchanged between good friends in a social setting.
Why do we need the pinkypoint gesture?
There are numerous situations when a pinkypoint is more suitable than traditional gestures or comments:
- The pinkypoint is subtle. A wink is often noticeable, and kind of gay. A high five is often dorky and inappropriate. The pinkypoint is often undetected by those whom it is not directed towards, enhancing the significance and value of the gesture.
- The pinkypoint does not involve contact. A high five can exchange germs. As well, the pinkypoint can be performed from a reasonable distance away, making it more versatile.
- Finally, it is new. The pinkypoint has not been corrupted by overuse, misuse and abuse.
The purpose of this website is to inform the public on proper procedure and etiquette when performing the pinkypoint.
